Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect during worship?

We usually begin by having one of our shepherds leading us in a “Call to Worship.” This is a brief time meant to orient our hearts and minds toward God and His word, tuning out the noise of the world.
Everyone is encouraged to join in our a capella singing and to follow along as our minds are led in prayer. Our thoughts will also be led to focus on the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus during our time of communion, or Lord’s Supper. All Christians are welcome to participate.
Usually directly following the Lord’s Supper, there will be a time to thank God for our blessings and to give. This is intended for Mid-County members to support the work of the church. Visitors are under no obligation to contribute.
Our worship will also consist of the public reading of scripture and some sort of message from God’s Word,  usually in the form of a sermon or in the evening worship, a short devotional thought.  We typically conclude with congregational announcements and a closing prayer.

What do you believe about . . . ?

The short answer is that we do our best to follow the Bible and only the Bible. We have no denominational structure that votes on issues in far away places then tells us what to teach. The shepherds of our congregation answer directly to the Chief Shepherd. There is no creed, handbook, or statement of faith that you have to agree to in order to be a member here. We do our best to read our Bibles face-to-face with our brothers, sisters, and neighbors and come to our own conclusions about what Scripture teaches. If you have any questions about how the consensus of Mid-County members understand any particular issue, we would be glad to talk about it with you.

What should I wear?

We can honestly say that on any given Sunday you will find people in all kinds of attire worshiping together at Mid-County. There will be a handful in suits and ties, and there will be some in jeans and t-shirts. Most will be somewhere in between.

Do you have children's Bible classes?

Yes, we have Bible classes for all ages at 9:00 on Sunday mornings and 7:00 on Wednesday evenings. We use a curriculum called Shaping Hearts for God.

Is there a nursery available?

Yes. The changing table is located in the nursery, not the regular restrooms. There is a private area of the nursery that is partitioned off for nursing mothers. This room also has an adjustable speaker to hear what is going on in the auditorium.

Do you have adult Bible classes?

Adult classes are offered on both Sundays and Wednesdays. Some of these will be specifically for women, some for men, some for families, and some for college students and young adults. Information about the current offerings can be found here.

Is an ASL Interpreter Available?

Yes, but if you are needing this service, we ask that you please let us know ahead of time.

Can you accommodate special needs?

Every part of our building is handicap-accessible, including a private restroom equipped with a hoyer lift. Our nursery is staffed during the sermon time, and has a separate area for nursing mothers. We have a room with a window into the auditorium that is convenient for children with sensory sensitivities or other special needs. It is away from heavy foot traffic, has a speaker with adjustable volume so that what is going on in the auditorium can be heard, and the lighting is adjustable as well.

Can I get a ride?

Absolutely! We have a van that can pick you up. We just ask that you call the office at (937) 335-1313 before noon on Friday to be added to the list for Sunday, or before noon on Wednesday for Bible study that evening.
